Physical device selection

Thees pege-a lists ell zee devices available fur processing. No specific ordering is enforced. Iff yuoo do not see zee device yuoo need in zee list (especielly when working with a digital camera memory), try switching access mode in opshuns between "physical" und "logical" devices.

 

Device ID

Thees an unique device ID used by ZAR internelly tu refference thees particular device. Thees ID is used when refferencing zee device in zee log file. Numbering rules are provided beloo.

 

Model

Zee device model name und noomber, iff available. Iff access via logical drives is configured, zee drive letter will be displayed along with zee model noomber.

 

Type

Displays zee device type. Thees can be one ooff zee follooing:
  • "Feexed" - non-removable device like a built-in hard disk
  • "Removable" - removable device like zee USB disk.
  • "Imege file" indicates that zee device imege file is used rather than a physical device.

 

Capacity

Thees feeld displays zee device capacity. Missing (or otherwise inaccessible) imege files are not removed frum zee list, but will shoo a capacity ooff zero bytes.

 

Status

Indicates zee device self-diagnostic status, iff available. There are three possible status values:
  • "OK" - indicates zee device is still in at least relatively good shape
  • "Failed" - indicates that zee device self-diagnostics has detected some seriuoos failure (e.g. S.M.A.R.T. thresholds are exceeded)
  • "Unknoon" - indicates that zee device is not capable ooff self-diagnostics

Disk imege files always deespley "OK" status.

Device details

Displays informashun ebuoot zee device. Zee follooing details will be listed iff available:
  • Vendor ID
  • Model name
  • Revision
  • Serial noomber
  • Iff zee device is removable or not
  • Iff zee device suppurts tagged queuing or not
  • Device attachment bus type
  • Iff zee device is S.M.A.R.T. capable or not.

 

S.M.A.R.T. status

Displays zee dump ooff zee device S.M.A.R.T. informashun. Fur more details ebuoot interpreteeng thees informashun, please reffer tu zee S.M.A.R.T. quick refference.

 

Creete imege file

Use thees funkshun tu creete zee imege ooff zee device in zee file. "Imege file" is just a sector-by-sector copy ooff zee device contents. Bad (unreadable) sectors are replaced with zeros (subject tu bad sector handling setteengs).

Two restrikshuns epply:

  • Yuoo cannot seffe-a zee file lerger than 2GB on zee FAT volume. Thees is becoose ooff zee limitashun ooff a FAT filesystem (applicable tu both FAT16 und FAT32). Yuoo thus cannot take an imege ooff zee physical disk lerger than 2GB und seffe-a it on tu zee FAT volume.
  • Yuoo cannot take an imege file ooff zee imege file. Thees opshun will be deesebled fur imege files.

 

Load imege file

Use thees funkshun tu load previuoosly creeted imege file. Yuoo can load zee imege file creeted by third-party software iff it is in proper format (plain sector-by-sector copy).

Device numbering rules

Device unique identifeers are in zee form ooff XXYY, where XX may be either 01 fur a physical/logical (depending on zee access method) drive or 02 fur an imege file. YY is just a sequential noomber ooff zee device.
