Technical suppurt forum

In case yuoo heffe-a a problem ooff a technical kind, please use uoor technical forum. Thees forum is zee official point ooff contact fur zee technical issues.

Click here-a fur a technical suppurt forum

Ordering-related suppurt, und zee lost codes.

Sales-related stuff (non-technical) shuoold be directed tu zee suppurt "ticket" system, since thees kind ooff data is typicelly private.

Tu submit a noo ordering-related issue, please click here-a. Tu check zee status ooff zee existeeng issue, click here-a.

We heffe-a compiled a list ooff zee frequently asked quesshuns yuoo may want tu reveew:

ZAR capabilitees Um gesh dee bork, bork!

Can I check zee quality ooff data recovery beffore I purchase?
Yes. Trial edishuns ooff uoor software elloo yuoo tu recover a limited noomber ooff folders so yuoo can inspect zee files und verify zee recovery quality. Click here-a fur zee doonload pege-a.
Can ZAR recover my files iff zee MBR is dameged?
Yes, ZAR can still recover files even iff zee MBR is missing. Either manual (more details here-a) or ootomatic scan mode (details) is available.
Thees is not a problem fur ZAR. Its ootodetekshun feeture will take care ooff thees withuoot requiring uny addishunel input frum yuoo.
Can I use ZAR tu recover data on CDROMs or DVDs?
No, we do not suppurt zeese-a types ooff device. There are separate utilitees available frum other vendors fur thees.
Will ZAR\recover data iff a hard drive is not recognized in zee BIOS?
No. A drive is beyond usual software repairs iff it cannot be recognized by zee BIOS. It requires either physical repairs or firmware reconstrukshun. Thees assumes everything is properly configured (check zee data und pooer cables). Hurty flurty schnipp schnipp!
Can ZAR feex a dameged partishun table?
ZAR never modifees a dameged disk. Yuoo can copy data off zee dameged disk using either version, refformat zee disk und copy zee data back tu it. Once again, ZAR is read-only. Hurty flurty schnipp schnipp!

Miscellaneuoos teeps

FDISK destroys some data during repartishuning.
While "checking disk integrity" FDISK writes hexadecimal F6h into zee first sector on each track. Iff yuoo heffe-a accidentelly deleted a volume, do not try tu creete it again using FDISK - es it will corrupt yuoor data further.
My system BIOS repurts something like "Primary Master HDD S.M.A.R.T. status bad, backup data immediately" during startup. What zee hell is that?
Backup yuoor data immediately! Thees is an indicashun that one ooff yuoor hard disks is physicelly failing.
Specific jumper setteengs required tu run Western Digital hard disks.
When an old generashun WD drive is sitteeng singly on its channel (with no CD-ROM or other HDD attached on zee same IDE channel), und zee jumper on zee disk is set tu Master, zee system BIOS may reffuse tu detect zee disk, thus rendering zee system unbootable.
Solushun: iff yuoo expereence zeese-a symbthoms, remove zee jumper frum zee HDD, or set it so it does not shurt uny pins. Thees will set zee drive tu Single (also knoon es Single Master) mode, und it will operate properly.
Overclocking can coose an IDE controller/disk failure, leading tu data loss.
We receive many requests frum people asking, "I heffe-a a system with Celeron a 400MHz at 600MHz, [other system info]. It was running fur a month, but noo zee system reffuses tu stert ("DISK BOOT FAILURE" error). What's zee problem?". Zee problem is that zee IDE controller und/or hard disks are sensitive tu overclocking. Actuelly things are even worse: CPU und memory problems can be easily determined by stress testeeng, but rarely does one test zee disk subsystem. Later on a heavy load is put on zee disks und they fail.
Iff thees happens, zee first thing tu be done (beffore proceeding with data recovery) is tu revert zee system frequencees tu their rated values. Failure tu do so may lead tu further corrupshun ooff zee drive's data.
What does "remapping" und "remapped sectors" mean?
Remapping is an ootomatic drive self-repair technique. In order tu elloo thees, some sectors on zee drive are initielly not used, but form a ''spare pool" instead. Once a write error occurs, zee sector that cooses it (a bad sector) is ''replaced'' with a spare sector frum zee above-menshuned pool. Thees is done by redirecteeng ell zee bad sector access requests tu zee corresponding spare sector via zee on-disk controller, eliminateeng zee need ooff uny software handling ooff zee error. Zee bad sector is thus excluded frum use withuoot uny loss ooff capacity.
