Physical drive and partition options

Controls how devices are accessed. Preferred access method is using physical devices. You
should change this
setting only if you cannot get your device listed in ZAR. This may
apply to some models of USB "key-disks" and flash memory cards (especially when
a flash memory card is accessed via the digital camera rather than a card reader
device). When "logical drive" method is used, you will not be prompted to select
a volume (partition) since each device represents a separate volume.
Additionally, loading a disk image file is impossible if access via logical
drives is selected. |

If enabled, ZAR attempts to read and analyze partition table layout
on removable drives. Some removable devices (like ZIP disks) do not store this
information, so analysis attempt gives bogus if any results. In such a case
proceed by using "Manual" partition selection option, and specify that there was
only one volume on the disk. |

LDM (Logical Disk Manager) is a Windows 2000/XP and higher component which
implements Dynamic Disks features, including striped, spanned, and
fault-tolerant volumes. Its database is read and analyzed to extract dynamic
volumes layout. The dynamic disks are not allowed on removable devices and on
the laptop computers, hence you may disable this option if this is your case.
Additionally, it should be disabled if there are no dynamic disks and physical
problems prevent reading of the database. |
