Known camera compatibility list

You can run ZAR on nearly any system you can attach your digital camera to:
  • Windows 2000, XP, or 2003.
  • Appropriate digital camera/card reader drivers installed (if applicable).

Following is the known camera compatibility list. If you experience problems with a listed camera or have successfully recovered your images from a camera not listed yet, please submit your camera model data via this form, so we can update  this list.

  • "No support at all"/"not compatible" indicates that files created/deleted by this device cannot be recovered under any circumstances.
  • "Card reader required" indicates you need a separate flashcard reader to recover lost files (the camera itself does not provide direct access to the memory card).
  1. Canon 1Ds Mk 2 - compatible.
  2. Canon 20D - compatible.
  3. Canon 300D Digital Rebel, 350D Digital Rebel XT - compatible.
  4. Canon A40, A520 - compatible, requires card reader.
  5. Canon A60 "Powershot" - no support at all (this is now believed to be in error: data should be recoverable; if you have an A60 we kindly ask you to retest and email us the results).
  6. Canon A70, A85 "Powershot" - compatible, requires card reader.
  7. Canon D60 - compatible.
  8. Canon EOS 400D - compatible, requires card reader.
  9. Canon S1 IS, S2 IS - card reader required. Images can be recovered after deletion or format but not recoverable after Canon's "Low Level Format".
  10. Canon Powershot G5 - compatible.
  11. Canon S30 "Powershot" - card reader required.
  12. Canon S400 "Powershot" / IXUS400 - card reader required.
  13. Canon S500 - compatible.
  14. Casio QV-R3 - may require card reader, otherwise recoverable.
  15. CASIO Exilim EX-Z600 - compatible.
  16. Concord 4060 AF - not compatible.
  17. Epson P2000 multimedia storage viewer device - compatible.
  18. Fujifilm S3100 - compatible.
  19. Fujifilm S5000 - compatible, but may require a card reader.
  20. Fujifilm S6500fd - compatible.
  21. Fujifilm Finepix F10 - compatible, may require a card reader.
  22. Fujifilm Finepix 4700 Zoom - compatible.
  23. Hewlett-Packard HP315, HP612, HP850 - compatible (put camera into USB-drive mode to access the card properly).
  24. Hewlett-Packard R717 - compatible.
  25. Kodak CX4200 - compatible.
  26. Kodak DC210 (serial connection) - card reader required.
  27. Kodak DX4530 (with internal memory) - compatible.
  28. Kodak DX4900 - compatible.
  29. Kodak DX6490 - compatible.
  30. Kodak CX7430 - not compatible.
  31. Konica Minolta A200 - compatible.
  32. Konica Minolta D7 - card reader required.
  33. Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D - compatible.
  34. Kyocera Finecam 410R - compatible.
  35. Minolta DImage F200 - compatible.
  36. Minolta DImage Z1, Z6 - compatible.
  37. Mustek MDC 3000 USB - card reader required.
  38. Nikon Coolpix (probably all models) - compatible.
  39. Nikon D50 - compatible.
  40. Nikon D70s - compatible, just rename .TIF to .NEF.
  41. Nikon D80 - compatible.
  42. Nikon D200 - compatible.
  43. Olympus C-220, C-3000Z - card reader required.
  44. Olympus C-3030 - compatible, may require a card reader.
  45. Olympus C-3040 Zoom - card reader required.
  46. Olympus C-450, C-700 Ultra Zoom, C-750UZ - compatible.
  47. Olympus C-500 - may require a card reader.
  48. Olympus C55Z, C5500Z - may require a card reader.
  49. Olympus D-550 Zoom - compatible.
  50. Olympus D-580 Zoom - compatible.
  51. Olympus D-380 - compatible.
  52. Olympus FE-120 - card reader required.
  53. Panasonic DMC-FZ20 - compatible.
  54. Panasonic DMC-FZ50 - compatible.
  55. Pentax Optio 50 - compatible, but may require a card reader.
  56. Pentax Optio 550 - compatible.
  57. Pentax Optio A10 - IS - compatible.
  58. Pentax Optio E10 - compatible.
  59. Samsung Digimax 201, Digimax 420 - compatible.
  60. Sony CyberShot DSC-W70 - compatible.
  61. Sony DSC-717 - requires card reader.
  62. Sony DSC-F828, DSC-P7, DSC-V1, DSC-V3 - compatible.
  63. Sony DSC-T5 - Camera is compatible when connection is set to mass storage.
  64. Sony DSC-W1 - compatible, may require a card reader.
  65. Toshiba PDR 2300 - compatible.
  66. Trust 960 Powercam CCD - compatible.
  67. Vivitar Vivicam 3750 - compatible.

ZA works! I downloaded and tried at least 16 other programs, but none recovered a single image. ZA saved 159 photos (all of the images on the card, as far as I can remember). My 512MB SD card was corrupted when I plugged it into a card reader to make a backup. [...] Every search turned up fewer "new" programs to try. Tonight I downloaded 4 "new" programs (3 of them didn't work....) ZA works! [...] won't recognize any drives -- unless I'm logged in as Administrator. An undocumented shortcoming.
